Family holidays in Sölden

“Almzeit” is the name of the widespread learning path in Sölden, which acquaints families with nature and biology in the mountains in an exciting, playful and culinary way.

Peak, ice & high routes in Sölden

A hiking holiday in the Ötztal valley is a very special experience with many highlights not only for families. The Tyrolean hiking valley will satisfy sportive hikers and mountaineers too. Medium and difficult tours lead right up to the eternal ice.

For high-alpine tours we recommend the company of an experienced mountain guide: In nine offices in Sölden you can find several mountain guides who are familiar with the paths. They understand the weather, which can unexpectedly change in the mountains, and are well aware of the special challenges on alpine terrain.

A special hint for ambitious hikers is the Ötztal Trek, a high-alpine long-distance trail with 22 stages and 400 kilometres in total length. The stages can be hiked separately.

Water world Ötztal: Lakes & springs

The Austrian Alps are a true “Water World”. During the warm season the glaciers provide for this precious liquid, which rushes and splashes relentlessly downhill in form of streams, runlets and powerful waterfalls.

However, in the Ötztal valley the water does not only come from the mountain peaks. Hot thermal water pours out of the earth in several places and turns into a real fountain of youth, like for example in the AQUA DOME Thermal bath Längenfeld. Experience the soothing medicinal water during a visit to the hot springs, the torrents of the Ötztaler Ache during a rafting tour and the still waters of mountain lakes while hiking.

In winter, the glaciers fill their reserves with fresh snow – and in early summer it all starts all over again. Tip: After the hiking pleasure enjoy bathing in the natural swimming pond in Grüners AlpenPark!
